The mission of the Good Samaritan Foundation is to promote nursing as a career by providing scholarship funds directly to student nurses for their clinical nursing courses. The Southern Illinois Healthcare Scholarship program is a multi-phase program that marries college scholarship money with work opportunities. This program is for anyone majoring in certain healthcare disciplines that has been accepted into an area college or university. You can receive money for such items as tuition, lab fees, books and educational supplies. For each academic year you accept scholarship money under the SIH program, you will be required to sign a contractual work agreement stating you will work for SIH (in Southern Illinois, after graduation, in your field for each year you are on scholarship).
These scholarships have been established to reward and assist RNs, LVNs, and CNAs who are currently employed in long term care and who are interested in pursuing higher educaiton with a career focus in long term care.
