Biography:
David McKenery has served Lone Star College-Montgomery as an adjunct professor of music since 2004. He has taught a variety of courses including Popular Songwriting, Electronic Music, Music Appreciation and Music Fundamentals. David has also served as music director and keyboard artist for LSC-Montgomery musical productions including “Jesus Christ Superstar,” “ You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown,“ “The Great American Trailer Park” and the upcoming musical “Little Shop of Horrors.”
In addition to Montgomery College David serves as Choir Director in Willis ISD where he has developed a diverse choral program. His students continue to receive many awards in their UIL competitions and choir festivals. David recently served as an accompanist at the Region/Honor Choir concert for Region 9, and will serve again as organist for the Region 9 Choir concert this fall.
David is a member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church music staff. He serves as principal church organist, and has also participated with the Gloryland jazz band, the Harvest praise band, and the church’s orchestra. David has also led contemporary worship in The Loft worship center at TWUMC. David enjoys composing contemporary Christian music and has performed and/or collaborated with a wide range of artists including Michael W. Smith, Bryan Lenox, Mark Pogue, DC Talk, Billy Sprague and others. His published works include “See The Light” and “Worship” recorded with the SpiritWind Praise Band of Houston. David’s working on a new CD of contemporary Christian songs with anticipated release in 2009.
David has also performed with numerous local jazz groups and dance bands, most notably, The Charlie Cash Band, The Bill Black Orchestra, and his own group, The DJ Mac Ensemble, providing entertainment at corporate events, wedding receptions, private parties and restaurants. David resides in Willis with his wife Lolly, daughter Laura, and sons, D.J. & Michael. He is a member of the Texas Music Educator’s Association, Texas Choral Director’s Association, American Guild of Organists, The Chorister’s Guild, Nashville Songwriter’s Association & The Conroe Jazz & More Society.
