John Hancock is the administrator. Long-term care insurance is open to state and higher education employees, retirees, their spouses, adult children 25 years and older, parents and grandparents of both the member and spouse. Long –term care refers to the type of health and/or personal care services needed if an individual becomes unable to care for themselves because of chronic illness, accident, disability, loss of function or mental impairment.
The long-term care insurance is a contract between the employee and the administrator, John Hancock Life Insurance Company.
- EOI for new employees is not required in the initial hire period.
- EOI required for family members.
- Premiums based on age.
- No state or employer contribution.
- Payment by bank draft, quarterly or annually.
