The Employee Assistance Program is a confidential counseling and information service for employees and family members which offers short-term assistance in handling personal problems. Sometimes problems arise that might require professional advice. When problems appear unsolvable or get out of hand, the EAP provides confidential information to help individuals get things back on track.
What types of problems does the program deal with?
Problems such as family conflicts, divorce, marital conflicts, emotional strain, depression, eating disorders, death of a family member, legal and financial problems, job stress, alcohol and drug abuse problems. The District's EAP provider - The University of Texas EAP - can be reached by calling 713.500.3327 or 1.800.346.3549. The staff is available for appointments throughout Harris and Montgomery Counties.
Is the problem confidential?
Yes, the EAP office is located off Lone Star College System's premises. No one at Lone Star College System will know about your EAP contact unless you tell them. Everything discussed is held in strict confidence. The Employee Assistance Program is free to you, your spouse and your dependents.
Because some problems also may affect your performance at work, your supervisor may suggest that you take advantage of the program's services. It is the district's goal to minimize any problem that could contribute to work related difficulties, whether the problem is on the job or at home.
