Sex Offenses
Sex offense prevention and educational programs are offered through the police department and (where present on the college campus) student counseling programs to promote the awareness of sexual assault, acquaintance rape (date rape), and other sex offenses. Victims of on-campus sex offenses are encouraged to report the incident to the police department and to the counseling center. They are also encouraged to report the incident to the appropriate law enforcement agency off-campus.
The college officers responsible for student conduct will also assist students who are victims of sex offenses in notifying the local law encouragement agencies and will assist victims in addressing classroom or campus issues.
The District provides the following services to students and employees who have been affected by sex offenses:
1. Academic and personal support is available for students through the college disciplinary officers.
2. Confidential personal counseling for students is available through the counseling office or if no counseling office is present at the college, through the college disciplinary officers.
3. Assistance for faculty and staff is available through the Employee Assistance Program, which may be contacted by calling: 713.621.6500 or 1.800.622.7276.
