Radiologic Technology General Information
Statement of Accreditation
The Lone Star College-Montgomery Radiologic Technology program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education (JRCERT). Lone Star College System is also accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for a national certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies (ARRT). For more information contact:

Statement of Certification/Licensure Eligibility
Individuals who have been convicted of a crime, with the sole exceptions of speeding and parking violations, may be ineligible for certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and/or the Texas Department of Health Services. According to ARRT Rules of Ethics:
- Crimes include a felony, gross misdemeanor or a misdemeanor, with the sole exception for speeding and parking violations. All alcohol and/or drug related violations must be reported.
- A "conviction" includes a criminal proceeding where a finding or verdict of guilt is made or returned but the adjudication of guilt is either withheld or not entered, or a criminal proceeding where the individual enters a plea of guilty or nolo contendere.
- Military court-martials that involve substance abuse, sex-related infractions, or patient-related infractions must also be reported.

Background Check Requirement
Final acceptance into the Radiologic Technology program is contingent upon a satisfactory background check (as required by clinical affiliates) that must be completed by an approved Lone Star College System vendor at the student's expense. Clinical facilities may also require completion of a satisfactory drug screening.
Health and Immunization Status
Students must be physically and emotionally able to meet all program requirements in order to render safe care of patients in the clinical setting. Following program acceptance, students are required to submit proof of current immunizations as required by the Texas Department of State Health Services for healthcare providers since healthcare providers may be exposed to patients with infectious and blood-borne diseases. Regulations further require that studetns complete the Hepatitis B immunization series (may take 3-6 months) prior to any patient contact. Additionally, admitted students must submit documentation of a current two year American Heart CPR certification for the Health Care Provider.
Professional Liability Insurance
All radiologic technology students are required to purchase professional liability insurance through the college.
Progression Requirements
To remain in good standing and progress within the Radiologic Technology curriculum, students must maintain a "C" (75%) average in ALL radiologic technology (RADR) courses.
Student Conduct
A student who violates applicable policies may be subject to discipline, suspension, or dismissal in accordance with the Radiologic Technology Student Handbook, Lone Star College System Board policy and applicable law. In the event that a violation of policy is also a violation of State or Federal law, the College may decide to proceed or delay its own disciplinary processes.
