LVN/LP Transition to ADN

Admission Procedures

• Obtain a printable copy of steps for applying to the LVN/LP Transition to ADN Program.

• Completion of all requirements for admission as a full-time student to Lone Star College System.

• You will need official copies of all college transcripts submitted to the admissions office at Lone Star College-Montgomery for the purpose of evaluation. If you have previously submitted transcripts to a Lone Star College System campus, please verify with an advisor or counselor that your transcripts have been evaluated. Applicants who have attended high school and/or college in another country must have their transcripts evaluated and converted to U.S. credits by an outside commercial company.

• TASP/THEA status must be "Passed" in all three areas (Reading, Writing, and Math) or student must be SSI complete in all 3 areas by some other mean (see an advisor or counselor).

• Complete before applying to the nursing program with a minimum grade of C:

BIOL 2401, within the past 5 years

BIOL 2402, within the past 5 years

ENGL 1301

PSYC 2301

PSYC 2314

RNSG 1301

• Complete prior to entering nursing program, with a minimum grade of C:

BIOL 2420, within the past 5 years

SOCI 1301

• GPA of all coursework in ADN program (except KINE) must meet minimum requirement of 2.5.  Biology courses submitted for program credit must be completed no more than five years prior to application to nursing program.

• Print the HESI Testing Ticket and complete the HESI Test (math and reading comprehension sections only). The $23 fee must be paid prior to testing. Deadline for completing HESI test is one week prior to application deadline. The HESI test is available to be taken at LSC-Montgomery during the nursing application periods only and must be taken at least a week prior to the application deadline. 

• Pick up Transition Pre-application checklist from B100 office or print a copy from the web page. Verify that you have everything completed on the checklist.

• Make an appointment with a counselor in B100 to turn in pre-application checklist, HESI test scores, transcripts, copy of licensure, and signed application.  To schedule an appointment, call (936) 273-7030.  (These appointments will be available starting in January.)
