PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The position is responsible for the coordination and operation of the Art Gallery. This position also serves as a liaison with the Community for art events and coordination of outreach programs. The individual will coordinate and supervise Community Education visual and performing arts classes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate and install Gallery Exhibitions.
Coordinate team to review selection of Art Exhibits.
Coordinate and install exhibitions in Alternative Art Space located throughout the college.
Write educational programs for selected exhibitions.
Coordinate lecture and workshops to elementary, secondary, and college level students and act as a liaison with these schools.
Coordinate lecture and workshops, including art symposia, to the community and act as a liaison with the community.
Coordinate interdisciplinary programs within the college.
Supervise student assistants for museum education experience.
Coordinate all contracts, stipends, and reports to Business Office.
Coordinate all exhibition insurance.
Coordinate all Public Relations, invitations, flyers, and posters for exhibitions with the Public Relations Office.
Develop and manage annual budgets for gallery and art symposia.
Write grants for exhibitions and lecture series.
Schedule and coordinate Community Education visual and performing arts classes and their needs.
Recruit, identify, and evaluate instructors for assigned classes.
Monitor and evaluate assigned instructors and programs.
Represent assigned areas by serving on appropriate committees.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s preferred. Three+ years Gallery experience, communication skills. Grant writing skills, computer skills, budget and business related skills, museum education.
