JOB TITLE: Coordinator II, Employment FLSA: Non-Exempt GRADE: B24

REPORTS TO: Director, HR & Employment Services

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Performs a variety of professional duties related to the administration of the District’s recruiting efforts; performs technical and professional duties to attract, screen, recruit, and select new employees; serves as liaison with the colleges and/or general public with regard to employment/recruiting issues. Supervises, coordinates, and provides leadership to employment services personnel. Provides guidance in the resolution of routine problems. Coordinates district-wide annual awards banquet and district office awards program.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Coordinates and directs recruiting efforts of the district; implements creative recruiting strategies to fulfill staffing needs of the district, including faculty, administrative, professional, and support staff.

  2. Screens and evaluates application materials to ensure pool of applicants is diverse, and that individual candidates meet minimum qualifications before submitting to search committee.

  3. Supervises, coordinates, and provides leadership to Employment Specialist I & II, and part-time employee.

  4. Provides advice and assistance to hiring supervisors on all aspects of the selection process.

  5. Identifies, develops and implements enhancements/improvements to selection process.

  6. Develops and maintains electronic advertising/recruiting; creates and places job vacancy announcements to Lone Star College System web site.

  7. Composes and places all recruitment advertising in newspapers, trade and professional journals and other media.

  8. Designs, implements, and conducts orientation for new District Office employees.

  9. Coordinates the assimilation of information for surveys, reports, information request, efficiency and cost-effectiveness regarding recruitment efforts.

  10. Conducts EOE/AA diversity training seminars for search committees to ensure proper interviewing practices.

  11. Plans, implements, and coordinates the annual awards banquet for Lone Star College System employees.

  12. Creates, implements, and coordinates the monthly District Office All Star Award program.

  13. Provides presentations for district-wide middle school "Career Day".

  14. Represents the district at various job fairs and other recruitment efforts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:

An Associate’s degree in a related field and two years experience in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the field of Human Resources; requires a general understanding of human resources practices and administration. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated PC skills in applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed. Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced environment.

EQUIPMENT USED:

PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment as required.

CONTACTS:

College/Staff - Regular contact with college administrators, department heads, faculty members and employees to exchange information, provide service and/or resolve problems. Contacts with employees at all locations to answer questions, provide information relating to the District’s employment services programs.

External - Local, state and federal agencies to provide or request information. Consultants, outside vendors, applicants, community groups and recruiting sources.

COMPLEXITY/EFFORT:

Position requires accuracy and attention to details; analytical ability to conduct basic research, analyze data and prepares the reports, good organizational skills and ability to prioritize duties. Ability to deal with confidential information required. Job duties require little physical effort and few health and/or safety precautions.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a climate controlled office environment, readily accessible to the public.
