PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Provides day-to-day operational oversight for the Adult Education program at Lone Star College-North Harris and must ensure compliance with state or regulatory agencies. Also serves as the GED Chief Examiner for the college.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Coordinates the GED Testing Center operations as GED Chief Examiner and ensures compliance with state or regulatory agencies involved with programs and maintain appropriate records. Coordinates facilities, instructors, test proctors and equipment.
Provides primary and secondary student support to literacy students. Counsels students as to academic, technical and vocational opportunities. Assist students with learning disabilities to obtain necessary diagnostic testing or Special Accommodations for the GED Test. Works through college resources to obtain services that enable students to succeed in the classroom.
Assist in building annual budget and monitor budgets as assigned.
Supervise the input of student data into the state’s ACES information system, and the generation of reports of student demographics, participation, and learning outcomes.
Participates in the selection of, trains and supervises program coordinators, support staff, and outreach site supervisors at high school, church and community center locations.
Plans Adult Literacy and other CCE classes and analyzes Adult Literacy educational needs in programs.
Contribute to writing grants and special funding proposals assigned.
Participate in and coordinate meetings, conferences and maintain liaisons with community partners on behalf of and upon request from the Adult Education Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Experience in Adult Education. Knowledge of Adult Education regulations and delivery system. Familiarity with the state’s Adult and Community Education System (ACES). Thorough knowledge of Harris County Adult Education resources and support agencies. Knowledge of GED Exam procedures and testing regulations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Community College experience is preferred.
