Coordinator I, Fitness Club

JOB TITLE: Coordinator I, Fitness Club FLSA: Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Campus GRADE: B23
REPORTS TO: Director, Arts & Humanities

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Coordinates and supervises all KINE/Millennium club programs. Coordinates and supervises student workers and part time support. Answers student and member questions regarding facilities, equipment, classes, and program availability. Actively solicits membership in the club. Solicits, coordinates and implements rental contracts for the facility. Coordinates with KINE in rental of the facility to assure a mutually beneficial program for rental and avoid conflict with credit classes. Develops and supervises publicity for the Millennium Club and facility rental.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage operations of the Millennium Fitness Club, including hiring and supervision of employees.

  • Develop marketing plan and promotion strategies (internal and external) for club membership and rental contracts.

  • Supervise record keeping, including memberships and rental contracts.

  • Supervise collection and management of funds.

  • Develop and manage MFC budget.

  • Respond to members’ and students’ questions or complaints.

  • Coordinate with KINE for purchasing supplies and equipment.

  • Assist faculty with equipment needs.

  • Work with grant-writer to secure funds for MFC/KINE programs.

  • Schedule and run MFC staff meeting.

  • Arrange for maintenance of MFC equipment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree required.  a
  • 3 years customer service experience.
  • Must have (or obtain by date of employment) First Aid/Safety Training and CPR Certification.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, oral and written communication skills and customer service skills.
  • A strong computer background is desirable.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree and experience in the areas of Kinesiology, Fitness, Recreational Sports, Sports Management, or related field.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Computer and printer, Kiosk and ID system, fax, calculator, photocopier, phone, fitness equipment in weight rooms, recreational sports equipment.

COMPLEXITY/EFFORT:

This position requires excellent people/organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and perform job responsibilities under some duress. The successful applicant will demonstrate knowledge of marketing and management skills, multi-tasking ability, and ability to plan long-term goals with concrete intermediate steps for achieving those goals.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in the office, equipment room, and exercise areas. May involve travel within the community to solicit membership and network for development. Requires flexibility for irregular working hours that may include evening and weekends.
