PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The Coordinator I reports to the Director of Counseling and will be responsible for coordinating the operations of the College’s Assistive Technology Lab.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Set up and maintain all Assistive Technology Lab equipment. Troubleshoot equipment problems; place calls for maintenance and service.

Serve as primary contact for lab equipment vendors. Participate in bid preparation and purchasing process for lab equipment.

Provide instruction and training to students utilizing the Assistive Technology Lab. Serve as primary contact and resource for all Assistive Lab users.

Convert printed text to alternative format such as Braille, tape, or large print.

Develop manuals for use in training students and staff on assistive technology equipment.

Compile data and produce regular reports pertaining to Assistive Technology Lab utilization by students.

Assist Special Needs Counselor in the hiring, training and scheduling of part-time staff for the Assistive Technology Lab.

Responsible for payroll input for lab hourly employees.

Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the Assistive Lab budget expenditures; prepare budget transfer requests.

Responsible for creation and maintenance of electronic requisitions for lab and counseling supplies and equipment.

Responsible for organizing and maintaining lab documentation, files, reports, manuals, etc.

Assist students with career assessment and job search software resources.

Provide support to the Director of Counseling and counseling staff as needed.

Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
- Required:
High school education or equivalent.
- Three years related work experience in a coordination/supervision role.
- Excellent written, interpersonal, organizational, customer service and computer skills including Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and instruction and also cooperatively as a departmental team member.
- Critical thinking, decision-making, and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide dynamic and proactive educational leadership.
- Proven effectiveness in allocating and managing resources.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment to work collaboratively.

Preferred:
- Associate’s degree.
- Pevious experience with assistive technology.
- Community college experience.
- Bi-lingual.
