JOB TITLE: Clerk II, Printing Services FLSA: Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Lone Star College-North Harris GRADE: A12
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Printing Services

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

With little supervision, monitor equipment for maintenance and perform minor repairs. Perform basic functions of tracking and compiling statistics for duplication services and interfaces with copier vendors and other departments to report monthly records. Provide general support services to the printing services department as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Download print-jobs from the network/Receive manual requests and schedule the jobs for production.

  • Produce print job per the schedule.

  • Routinely monitor and order supplies such as paper stock.

  • Perform troubleshooting and routine maintenance for duplication equipment.

  • Compile and produce reports for each college on duplication statistics.

  • Operate standard equipment, such as: bindery, copiers, cutters, folders, drills, staplers, and shrink-wrap devices.

  • Perform backup functions as assigned for tasks such as courier support, receptionist, filing, and typing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • High School diploma, GED, or work experience required.
  • On-the-job training for assigned functions including equipment and organization provided.
  • Good interpersonal skills required.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions for lifting, and trip hazards.
  • Able to read, and to write legibly.
  • Capable of working independently and maintaining business conduct.

Preferred:

  • Bi-lingual skills..

EQUIPMENT USED:

Operates standard equipment based on specifics of the assigned jobs, such as copier, binders, and folding machines. General use of PC, postage meters, scales, document copiers, and general office equipment preferred.

Contact with college staff as necessary to carry out the general duties of the position.

COMPLEXITY/EFFORT:

Position requires ability to maintain equipment. Position requires ability to sequence numerically and alphabetically and to follow instructions and procedures. May require ability to physically lift, load and unload forty (40) pound packages, boxes, crates or other items. Must be able to handle bulky items requiring lifting, loading and unloading. Routine vehicle safety precautions must be observed at all times for positions requiring driving and operating motor vehicles. Lifting safety and tripping safety precautions must be observed as necessary to carry out the duties of this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is primarily performed in an office environment with limited access by the general public. Some positions require inside and outdoors assignments. Exposure to normal atmospheric conditions, dirt, dust, weather variables, etc. Work is conducted in a collegial, collaborative environment.

  • Getting Information - Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
