PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Creates and maintains a secure environment for administering either academic or placement examinations. The monitor is responsible for receiving and logging exams, verifying the identity of students taking exams, proctoring exams, and ensuring that completed exams are returned to authorized personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Receives and logs incoming tests from instructors who may be located or off campus, ensuring that test instructions are available.

Maintains tests in a secure environment.

Administers tests to students who have validated their identity and authorized by the instructor to take specific tests. Documents testing irregularities and notifies instructor.

Develops the systems and procedures needed to maintain and administer tests in a secure environment.

Recruits and trains part-time staff on testing center procedures.

Puts tests through computerized scoring processes as required.

Performs administrative support tasks as required.

Maintains systems for distributing and controlling computer CDs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- High School diploma.
- One to three years related work experience.
- Detail-oriented.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with both students and faculty.
Preferred:
- Experience in maintaining clerical systems.
EQUIPMENT USED:
PC with spreadsheet and electronic mail.
CONTACTS:
Faculty, students, and support staff. May contact administrative staff if relevant faculty is not available.
COMPLEXITY/EFFORT:
Individual must be able to work in a quiet environment and maintain environment even if working with individual students or faculty. Individual must be able to keep track of multiple tests for classes that are similar in title.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The individual will work in a climate-controlled office setting.
