PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Performs standard tasks under established guidelines within Accounts Payable/Receivable Department under limited supervision.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Prepares vouchers for invoices, check requests, travel reimbursements and advances.

Approves invoices and purchase orders for payment.

Prepares, balances and files computer generated reports.

Prints, separates and distributes checks.
-
Prepares and posts ledger and journal entries.
-
Assigns and maintains vendor numbers.
-
Prints check registers and balances with journal.
-
Coordinates refunds, prints refund checks and balances refund registers.
-
Prepares and mails year-end 1099’s.

Supervises part-time clerical workers.

Answers routine vendor questions and solves routine problems.

Performs additional job-related duties within reason and capabilities, as directed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Two years related work experience.
- Strong organizational skills, as well as excellent telephone etiquette.
Preferred:
- Basic computer skills and accounting knowledge are helpful.
EQUIPMENT USED:
PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
CONTACTS:
Internal - Contact with faculty and staff as necessary to carry out the general duties of the position.
COMPLEXITY/EFFORT:
Position requires ability to communicate effectively with vendors and employees to resolve problems and strict attention to detail and accuracy.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office environment.
