JOB TITLE:  Clerk I, Business Services FLSA:  Non-Exempt

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Under general supervision, perform cashier duties under established Accounts Receivable guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Process all Payment Receipts.

  • Maintain deposit memorandum files.

  • Process all office supply orders.

  • Verify student and general ledger account balances.

  • Distribute payroll and accounts payable checks.

  • Fill all change requests.

  • Process vending requests.

  • Open and distribute incoming mail.

  • Fill all petty cash requests and reimburse petty cash drawers.

  • Communicate with student, faculty, suppliers and vendors on routine issues and respond to basic inquiries.

  • Post data to manual or electronic spreadsheets as needed.

  • Distribute and collect college gas cards and process receipts.

  • Distribute faculty/staff parking stickers.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • High school diploma. 
  • Cashier experience in a business office or educational environment.
  • Data entry and computer experience including working knowledge of Microsoft Excel ,Word, and Outlook.
  • General records management ability, general office skills, and filing.
  • Courteous telephone and public communication skills.
  • Ability to work Saturdays as required during Fall and Spring heavy registration periods.

EQUIPMENT USED:

PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, multi-line phone, fax, credit card authorization equipment, copier and general office equipment.

CONTACTS:

Internal - Contact with faculty and staff as necessary to conduct general duties of the position. Contact with students; receive all payments and give general payment information as well as directions regarding locations around the campus.

External – Vending machine representatives, office product companies, general public seeking information.

COMPLEXITY/EFFORT:

Position requires operating a multi-line phone, fax, PC, copier, calculator, credit card terminal and general office equipment. Attention to detail and organization with a strong focus on customer service.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed at a desk with a glass and access by the public.
