PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
To provide leadership, research and coordination to new and on-going initiatives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assist Executive Vice Chancellor in specific projects and assignments and tasks of the Office of Education, Student, and Community Development.

Coordinate the development and implementation of a comprehensive international education program.

Serve as the co-chair to the Council for Education and Student Development (CESD).

Execute special charges and assignments that evolve from the Council for Education and Student Development.

Serve as a liaison for the CE/CT Council with the Executive Vice Chancellor and CESD and provide assistance and support to council.

Supervise the Director of Articulation Services and insure the articulation and linkage with the public schools, institutions of higher education and internal departments.

Provide leadership for District planning initiatives.

Assist with maintenance of a home page that contains resources for initiatives and projects.

Provide leadership and coordination to professional development activities for associate deans, Vice Presidents, and CE personnel (possible Chair Academy).

Provide leadership, research, and coordination for initiatives such as Teacher Education initiatives, K-16 Collaboration, and Service Learning, etc.

Provide leadership and coordination to the systems approach for delivering Developmental Education.

Supervise the Director of Articulation Services and insure the articulation and linkage with the public schools, institutions of higher education and internal departments (includes concurrent enrollment and Prior Learning Assessment).

Liaison with Lone Star College–CyFair personnel staff and support initiatives and activities that address a successful start-up of college.

Assist with policy development.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Doctorate degree in Education or related field.
- Five years management level experience in a related educational environment.
- Experience in community college environment with multi-college system is preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board guidelines.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to pull teams together to meet goals.
- Knowledge of and experience with curriculum development and revision processes, tech prep initiatives, dual credit, and program evaluation.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations, which apply to community college courses and programs.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of projects simultaneously. Negotiation skills.
- Manage cost unit budget.
- Have ability to communicate vision and motivate people to implement vision.
- Proven administrative experience.
- Proven involvement with community and civic organizations and agencies.
- Proven skills in problem solving ability and team building skills.
- Highly self-motivated.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
EQUIPMENT USED:
PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment.
CONTACTS:
Internal - The Associate Vice Chancellor will work with all Curriculum Facilitators (Associate Deans), special committees and task forces, CESD members, and other college and district staff to initiate projects and/or systems.
External - The individual will need to work with contacts in professional associations, vendors, colleagues in other colleges and universities, school district administrators and faculty, accrediting agencies, and program advisory committee members as appropriate.
COMPLEXITY/EFFORT:
This position is critical in providing leadership, coordination, and development for District initiatives that support the District mission. The individual will also provide guidance and resources to staff for professional development opportunities for the development and implementation of effective instructional strategies. The individual will receive general supervision from the Executive Vice Chancellor for Education, Student, and Community Development. The individual will have freedom within the guidelines of the policies and procedures of Lone Star College System to execute the essential job functions. The individual is expected to display personal initiative and autonomy.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The work is performed in a climate controlled office environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards. Travel to the Lone Star College System locations and to external meeting locations will be required.
