REPORTS TO: Vice President/Dean

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate system and local admissions and records policies and services. Work with administrators, faculty, and staff to develop and implement policies related to admissions, records, advising, registration, and graduation; maximizes efforts to increase automated systems development and maintaining continuous liaison with technology/computer services and campus wide committees; identifies operational expenses and equipment requirements for the unit budget; forecasts program needs, supervise and evaluate staff; charged with monitoring policy and day to day operations that relate to admissions, records, academic advising, registration, and graduation; prepares system and local reports adhering to state, federal, system and local guidelines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan, organize, and administer a comprehensive program of admissions, advising, retention, records, reports, and graduation.

  • Hire, train, and supervise and coordinate assignments of all full-time and part-time enrollment services staff.

  • Supervise the management of administrative processes including budget, payroll, personnel, and purchasing.

  • Coordinate the dissemination of information and procedures concerning the comprehensive enrollment services program to the Dean /VP and other college administration.

  • Coordinate enrollment services activities with other offices locally and district wide.

  • Provide recruitment and retention services directed toward the college Strategic Plan.

  • Provide counseling for students to resolve conflicts in enrollment services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
  • Three years experience in  higher education.
  • Ability to lead and supervise personnel in creative program and staff development.
  • Understanding of computerized information systems (preferably Colleague Release 16 by Datatel). 
  • Excellent communication and people skills.  
  • Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.

EQUIPMENT USED:

PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment.

CONTACTS:

Internal - Contact with administrators, program directors, faculty and staff as necessary to provide or obtain information to carry out the general functions of the position.

External - Contact with various companies and vendors as necessary.

This position requires the ability to work on a number of projects simultaneously, to work under tight deadlines with highly sensitive issues, to identify short and long term goals and keep them in perspective, to meet the educational and training needs of students, to maintain professionalism in all interactions, promote a positive and responsible environment, and maximize the productivity and efficiency of staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed primarily in a climate-controlled office environment with minimum health land/or safety hazards.
