2 | SBDC and CE - synergy SBDC is developing a new business guide - both hardcopy and electronic version - contains tips on starting a business, locating business advisors, and city and state business related issues. How can we collaborate?? Chambers indicated they did not want to be in the training business - Sal promoted LSC - Continuing Education and SBDC as options for them. Chambers agreed to link websites to e-newsletters. Center for Business Development - Steve Head & Jimmy Adams - Sal recommends this be a template for the system. Jimmy - College & SBDC work together without competing. Support each other . Entrepreneurial Venture, Saturday, October 4 - 1 day seminar. Needs to be an Annual System event. Campuses will register attendees - obtain funding and award CEU's. | Sal Mira - requested promotion of SBDC events by CE. Recommendation that Ray Laughter, Ricardo Solis (CE Council Rep) and SBDC work together on higher level communication with Chamber Leadership Councils, Workforce Boards and other local regional initiatives to facilitate our participation in training. College representation on SBDC Council - query College Presidents for updated representation list due to recent position changes. Linda - Set up 1 course with 5 sections for the October 4 event. Sal - regular guest for CE Council. Divide CE agenda to allow Sal to attend appropriate portions of meeting. |
3 (9:40) | Corporate College Update - Susanne Thaler - Staffing sorted out. Denton Bryant, Bonnie Dean, Cecilia , Connie Thomas - Business Training Consultants (Greenspoint location). Implementation - Frances Andrews (KW), Mary Fitzgerald (GP/NH), Rosemary Mooney (Tomball). Cy-fair and Montgomery positions open and a Program Coordinator for Greenspoint to support central office functions.
- Visited with 4 CE Dean's about account and personnel transfers. Will meet with Linda about Montgomery on Monday.
- Official public lauch will be Oct 15. Move to Greenspoint 3rd week of Sept. when office will be ready.
- Keep Susanne updated on Implementation personnel office moves on campus.
- Budgeting - things that are budgeted to Corporate training will be transferred.
- Held a business processes meeting to streamline, rfp's, blanket purchase orders - will help with efficiency of grants and entire training process.
- Pricing - adjust markup to 40-50% from the 25% markup however nonprofit groups would receive 25-30%.
- Flat payrate for corporate training adjuncts - $37.80. Will not use SOQ's to determine payrate. Need to consider certification requirements for higher pay
- Areas of concentration - Manufacturing, energy, government, transportation
