- Finalize Marketable Skills Awards
Perkins funding has been approved. List of potential programs was reviewed. Changes were noted, and revised MSA list will be forwarded to Eileen Booher for further development and coordination with expectation of feasibility recommendations by July.
Handout for welding program (fall 2008) was distributed as possibility for MSA consideration. This will need to be presented to the curriculum team for review and input as to articulation. Christina will research appropriate criteria as to contact hours, competency and credentials as proposed program was based on learning outcomes.
Also, some of the proposed programs are not on the high skill-high growth list and will need to go through advisory process before being accepted as MSA.
- Review Budget Requests
Budget requests for 2008-2009 were reviewed. Concern was raised as to funding for sustainability of equipment for existing programs and how this should be addressed. Susanne stated the EC will create separate fund to address updating equipment and technology for high tech programs.
Tomball has initiated a grassroots effort as to sustainability envisioning a virtual center for sustainability at LSC-Tomball. Susanne suggested having a system-wide "sustainability summit" in the coming weeks for brainstorming and feedback as to the various paths.
Katherine will send Susanne the NCWE compendium regarding sustainability.
