Follett Higher Education Group recently donated $500,000 to Lone Star College System for the student success initiative.
Follett regional manager, Jim Van Natter, along with district director Kellie Ranum, made a check presentation to LSCS chancellor, Dr. Richard Carpenter.
“We look forward to our ongoing partnership with Follett and are grateful for the donation that will continue to provide support services for our students,” said Carpenter.
Follett Higher Education Group is a family-owned bookstore provider operating for more than 130 years. FHEG operates 750 bookstores nationwide and provides management systems, support services, and used textbooks to over 1,800 independently managed bookstores.
“In addition to the $500,000 donation for student success initiatives, Follett has also agreed to set aside $50,000 for textbook and general scholarships for LSCS students and spend more than $750,000 in renovations at campus bookstores across the system,” said Kerri Duhon, LSCS director of purchasing.
“Follett is incredibly excited to continue our partnership with Lone Star College System,” said Kellie Ranum.

Lone Star College System consists of five colleges, including LSC-CyFair, LSC-Kingwood, LSC-Montgomery, LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball, six centers and Lone Star College-University Center. With more than 51,000 students in credit classes this fall, LSCS is the largest institution of higher education in the Houston area and third largest community college system in Texas.
