More than 100 business partners, community members, and Lone Star College System staff gathered at the system’s central services and training center for a reception Nov.3 to announce the launch of Lone Star Corporate College.
The system recently streamlined its customize training operations by consolidating efforts at the five colleges into a single office and identity: Lone Star Corporate College.
LSCS Chancellor, Dr. Richard Carpenter welcomed attendees at the kick-off event.
“Lone Star College System treasures and values our economic development partners and local chambers,” said Carpenter.
“We have heard the needs of our local business partners. You said what you needed from your community college was a highly trained workforce. You said you needed new programs developed for both credit and continuing education. You said you needed training delivered both quickly and professionally. Today it is my pleasure to tell you, we listened and are ready to respond in a big way,” he said.
“Today we launch Lone Star Corporate College, a comprehensive program that will provide custom training solutions to area business and industry,” said Carpenter.
Recent corporate partners include Anadarko, Halliburton, Hughes Christensen, Conroe Regional Medical Center, Houston Airport System, and more.
“Our affiliation with the college is an integral component of our success,” said Barbara Laing, director of imaging at Conroe Regional Medical Center.
“Not only do they assist us in our recruitment efforts by graduating highly-skilled personnel, but they are also aligned with our goals for employee retention and satisfaction. By partnering to provide on-going educational seminars and advanced modality training, we have addressed employee requests for a career ladder and cross training,” said Laing.
LSCC leadership is Linda Head, interim associate vice chancellor for workforce development, and Susanne Thaler, director for the Lone Star Corporate College. A team of business training consultants will develop new business clients, focusing on mid to large-sized organizations in the LSCS service area.
Lone Star Corporate College will strategically partner with organizations to assist with innovation and productivity, thereby adding profitability through investment in employee training and education. By analyzing a company’s business needs, LSCC professionals develop relevant training solutions required for a highly skilled and effective workforce.
“Once we have helped a business partner identify a need, we will work to secure training facilities, textbooks, software, a subject matter expert to serve as the facilitator, just about any customized need the client might have,” said Lone Star Corporate College implementation manager, Pattie Harakal.
The new Lone Star Corporate College office is now located at LSC-Greenspoint Center. Call 281-296-STAR, or contact either Susanne Thaler, Director, at susanne.thaler@lonestar.edu or Linda Leto Head, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor, at lhead@LoneStar.edu.
