Article Body
Dr. Bob Williams was recently named interim president for Lone Star College-CyFair. Prior to his appointment, Williams was the founding LSC-CyFair vice president of administrative services and was critical in the planning and development of the award winning LSC-CyFair campus.

Along with the strategic planning, design and construction of the campus, Williams was responsible for the development of all of the operational processes that form the infrastructure of the college’s business office, food service, auxiliary enterprises, maintenance, grounds and custodial, campus purchasing, personnel and college contractual agreements.

Williams holds both a bachelor and master’s degree from Texas Tech University and an associate of arts degree from South Plains College. He received his doctorate from the University of Houston.

He has served Lone Star College System for more than 34 years as a division chair, athletic director, dean of community education and vice president of administrative services. Williams is a member of several professional organizations including the National Association of College and University Business Officers, Southern and Texas Associations of College and University Business Officers, Community College Business Officers Association and the National Association of College Auxiliary Services.

Recently, Williams was honored with the 2008 Distinguished College Administrator Hallmark Award from Phi Theta Kappa.

Williams is active in his community serving on the board of the Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce, Cy-Fair Educational Foundation, Towne Lake Management District and InvesTex Credit Union. Williams and his wife Judy are members of First United Methodist Church in Humble, where she serves as an associate member.

Williams replaces Dr. Diane K. Troyer, founding president of LSC-CyFair, who resigned her position in Oct. to become senior program officer for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in Seattle.

Lone Star College System consists of five colleges, including LSC-CyFair, LSC-Kingwood, LSC-Montgomery, LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball, six centers and Lone Star College-University Center. With more than 51,000 students in credit classes this fall, LSCS is the largest institution of higher education in the Houston area and third largest community college system in Texas.
