Activity is One of Several During Oct. 13-17 College Advising Week
Students and community members searching for a direction in college can check out the Exploring Majors Fair at Lone Star College-Montgomery, which will be held Wednesday and Thursday, October 15-16.
The two-day event, sponsored by Student Services at LSC-Montgomery, takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Commons (Building A) and features information on the academic majors students can select. It also provides a place where current and prospective students can speak with faculty members specializing in the different areas of study.
“The Exploring Majors Fair is a great way for students to get more insight on what to study and to help plan their academic futures,” said Tara Tribuna, academic advisor with Student Services. “It is an informal, open venue where students can browse departments and ask questions relevant to their areas of interest.”
The Exploring Majors Fair is one event in a weeklong “College Survival Week” at LSC-Montgomery. Student Services will hold several events the week of October 13-17. The week kicks off with a “Plan Your Trip” event on Monday, October 13, from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the office of student services, where current and prospective students will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with advisors to help plan their academic careers.
Other events during the week include a “College Survival 101” session on Tuesday, October 14, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in Building B, Room 102; a “Transfer 101” session on Wednesday, October 15, from 6-6:30 p.m. in the Building E advising lobby; a “How Can I Help You” session (about the many student services provided at LSC-Montgomery) on Thursday, October 16, from 3-4 p.m. in the Blue Star Café (Building C); and a session on “Building Bridges” (about the resources found in the office of career services) on Friday, October 17, from 10:30 a.m.-noon in Building E, Room 111.
