October 22 Event to Promote, Encourage Precautions
Lone Star College-Montgomery will hold Safety First! on Wednesday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Commons (Building A). Attendees will learn about steps they can take to lower their risk of accidents and to prevent personal injuries—including those situations that arise from weather conditions such as the recent hurricane that severely impacted the area. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
The college created this educational safety fair to highlight best practices and prevent injuries both at work and at home said Linda Corbin, director of facilities at LSC-Montgomery. The LSC-Montgomery health and safety committee is sponsoring this first-year event.
“Accidents can happen at any time. It’s important to think safety first,” Corbin said. “We will offer information on fire prevention, electrical safety, personal protective equipment, severe weather response, and much more.”
“This is a wonderful opportunity that we hope our students and community members will take advantage of because they can take something away from Safety First! and apply it to their own lives,” said Maria Partida, a member of the health and safety committee.
The college mascot, Loco the Fighting Squirrel, will also make an appearance at the event.
