LSCS Receives Excellence in Financial Reporting Award Fourth Year in a Row

Lone Star College System was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).

This marks the fourth consecutive year LSCS has received this recognition.

“We recently received official word from the GFOA that our comprehensive annual financial report dated Aug. 31, 2007 qualified for the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting,” said Cindy Gilliam, LSCS vice chancellor for business affairs and chief financial officer.  

“This certificate is the highest honor awarded for excellence in governmental financial reporting.  Receiving this award is a reflection of the dedication of all administration and finance staff and is a direct result of all the hard work put in last year,” said Gilliam. 

The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 16,000 government finance professionals.

Lone Star College System consists of five colleges, including LSC-CyFair, LSC-Kingwood, LSC-Montgomery, LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball, six centers and LSC-University Center.
