Article Body

Lone Star College System’s LSC-Online program, formerly Lone Star College-Online, is now Lone Star College-Online.

LSCS recently adopted the 2008-2009 budget to include additional funding for online courses, student services and faculty assistance.

“Several new strategic initiatives are included in the budget, including Lone Star College-Online, a $1.75 million program designed to increase faculty and student support systems, expand the number and type of online courses offered and continue to improve existing programs,” said William Durham, associate vice chancellor for LSC-Online.

Replacing the system’s Lone Star College-Online, LSC-Online will begin to offer a 24-hour help desk service later this year, online-specific course evaluations and dedicated resource sites to assist in supporting faculty as well as approximately 20,000 online students per year with an average yearly growth rate of 16 percent.

Lone Star College System consists of five colleges, including LSC-CyFair, LSC-Kingwood, LSC-Montgomery, LSC-North Harris, and LSC-Tomball, six centers and LSC-University Center. With 49,250 students, it is the largest institution of higher education in the Houston area, and third largest community college district in Texas. To learn more, visit LoneStar.edu.
