Letter from the President
Teaching and learning. It's the core of what we do at Lone Star College-Montgomery--and throughout the Lone Star College System.
For our students, I want to assure you that we will do everything possible to make your educational journey a successful one. Whether you're here for a single class, a semester, or longer, we will help you reach whatever goal(s) you have. Our faculty is here to help you learn and succeed. Likewise, the staff at LSC-Montgomery is available for assistance. In addition to classroom excellence, we provide services like:
- career exploration and job search expertise
- extended learning via tutors and unique software programs
student clubs and activities
- a wellness center to exercise more than just your mind
- counseling
- financial aid & assistance, and more!
For the community, LSC-Montgomery is a place to meet. It's also a place to listen to great music, view fantastic art, watch live theatre, or participate in discussions via topic-oriented forums and lectures.
This is an exciting time for LSC-Montgomery and the Lone Star College System. The recent passage of a $420 million bond referendum ensures that the college will expand to meet ever-growing needs, including much-needed building and parking space on this campus. Through a strategic planning process led by Chancellor Richard Carpenter and Senior Vice Chancellor Rand Key, LSCS intends to make sure that the college's growth is inclusive, forward-thinking and systematized. This gives students, faculty, staff and community members assurance that the college will meet everyone's needs, not only in the immediate future, but in the years to come.
I hope that, no matter what the reason for your visit, you take the time to explore the many opportunities for teaching and learning. It's all around you!
Penny Westerfeld
Interim President
