Presidential Profile
Penny Westerfeld is serving as Interim President of Lone Star College-Montgomery for the 2008-2009 academic year. A native Houstonian, Westerfeld has been with the Lone Star College System for 29 years serving as professor at LSC-North Harris; associate dean for business and technology, dean of community education, and vice president of community and economic development at LSC-Kingwood; and most recently as the executive director of LSC-University Center. Penny’s career awards include:
- “Visionary” Woman-of-Achievement Award
- An Exemplary program award recipient by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
- Outstanding Training Provider team award recipient for the National Workforce Training Act
- Texas Business Education Teacher-of-the-Year
- Woman of Distinction Award by the American Association of Women in Community Colleges
Penny has participated in both Leadership North Houston and Leadership Montgomery County, and currently serves as ex-officio on the board of directors and on the Career Expo committee for the South Montgomery County Woodlands Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Rotary Club of The Woodlands, Kingwood First Baptist Church, and Chi Omega Fraternity. She is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a bachelor’s of business administration degree and the University of Houston with a master’s of education degree.
