Nursing Program
In response to the significant increase in demand for qualified nurses, the Lone Star College-Montgomery nursing program has grown by "leaps and bounds" in the past few years and is picking up top honors along the way.
Along with a 300 percent growth in enrollment over the past four years, the program has expanded from offering training to become a licensed vocational nurse (LVN), to a general associate's degree in nursing (ADN) required to become a registered nurse (RN). Students can either transition from being an LVN or a LPM (licensed paramedic) to earning their ADN, or they can enter the program with no nursing experience at all.
The program offers a degree for those who are completely new to the field rather than just those transitioning from being a vocational nurse or paramedic. This provides a lot of options for those interested in entering this high demand and very rewarding field.
Nursing Program News: Change to Biology Requirement
The Nursing Departments at Lone Star College System have eliminated the policy limiting the number of attempts on Biology courses (A&P I and II, and Microbiology). If you have taken any of the required Biology courses more than two times in the last 5 years, you are eligible to apply to the nursing programs effective immediately. The Biology courses must still be completed within 5 years of application (or updated via a refresher). This applies to all programs: VN, Basic Track RN, and Transition.Nursing Information Sessions
In order to assist in your learning more about nursing as a career and the particular requirements of our program, you are strongly encouraged to attend an information session. No reservations are needed. These sessions are held on the LSC-Montgomery campus.
