6. Will my courses transfer?
- Yes! Music is approved as a Field of Study Curriculum (FOSC). FOSCs are guaranteed to transfer to any public college or university in Texas. Once you have successfuly completed the music major, these courses are also guaranteed to apply to the appropriate bachelor's level degree plan in music.
7. What should I know before starting a music major?
- If you can take basic theory at your high school, do it! Students who can read both treble and bass clef, know their key signatures, their scales and their triads are much more successful than those who come into college without this knowledge. 8. What classes should I register for if I want to be a music major?
- Many of the classes you'll register for as a music major last for multiple semesters, so if you want to complete your music major within two years is is important to register for these right away! Music Theory, Ear Training, Class Piano, Private Lessons, and an ensemble (such as Chamber Singers) are all required for four semesters in order to completee the Associate in Music. These are the music courses you should register for your first semester.
